Cycle Syncing and Breathwork
You may have heard the term cycle syncing - the practice of adjusting your daily life, work, exercise, and expectations to match the natural rhythms of your menstrual cycle. And honestly? Sometimes it works really well for women, other times not so much. It’s quite personal and really depends on the person, but if you’re curious to learn how you can cycle-sync your breathwork, keep reading :)
The idea is simple. Your body is not the same every day of the month - and it was never meant to be. Your energy, focus, mood, and physical capacity shift across four distinct phases of your cycle. Fighting that, or worse, expecting the same output from yourself every single day, is one of the ways women can burn themselves out.
What cycle syncing can look like in real life
In your follicular phase (roughly days 1-13, just after your period), energy starts to build. This is a good time for bigger projects, social plans, and more intense movement like running or strength training.
In ovulation (around day 14), you are often at your most energised and communicative. Great for presentations, collaborations, and being visible.
In your luteal phase (days 15-28), energy starts to wind down. Your body is asking for more rest, more nourishment, and gentler movement. This is not failure - this is biology. Expecting peak productivity here is like a hot sunny day during the middle of winter.
And in menstruation, your body asks for the most rest of all. Slow movement, warmth, and turning inward.
Adjusting your gym routine, your work schedule, and your social commitments to honour these phases is a genuinely powerful act of self-care - and one your nervous system will thank you for.
Where breathwork fits in, at every single stage
Here is what makes Breathe Her breathwork different from almost every other wellness practice: you do not need to sync it to your cycle. Because our practices are already suitable for every stage, regardless of how you’re feeling.
The practices inside our 5 weeks to ‘No More Triggers’ curate practice for overwhelmed women are gentle, foundational, and designed for real everyday life. They are not intense or ask a lot of your body. They meet you exactly where you are - whether that is energised and clear in your follicular phase, or flat, tender, and low in the first days of your bleed.
There is no wrong time. There is no phase where these tools stop being relevant or accessible. They’re made for you to stay consistent with, across the entire month!
Why this makes consistency so much easier
Most wellness habits are hard to maintain across your cycle because they demand a version of you that only shows up half the time. A HIIT class feels very different in week one versus week four. A cold plunge might feel energising one week and genuinely too much the next.
The ‘No More Triggers’ program does not have this problem. Because the practices are gentle, short, and low-demand, they are easy to schedule in, easy to actually do, and easy to keep returning to - no matter where you are in your month.
This is how something becomes embodied. Not by doing it perfectly - but by doing it consistently, across all of the versions of yourself that your cycle brings forward. And when a tool is that accessible, that flexible, and that kind to your body - staying consistent stops feeling like discipline. It starts feeling like something you actually want to do. And that’s how you will shift (finaly) from overwhelmed and reactive, to steadiness and embodiment in this next cycle. Simply with your breath, a daily commitment to less than 13minutes, and the support of a curated practice built for your nervous system.
